Own Car

When driving rented or your own cars in the UK there are a number of costs you need to consider.

Car Tax

For vehicles registered after March 2001 please see www.direct.gov.uk Vehicles registered before March 2001 tax costs £185 p.a. (£120 for cars with engines less than 1500c.c. )

Petrol

Petrol is becoming ever more expensive. At the time of this update the prices were £1.36 for one litre of unleaded petrol and £1.39 for a litre of diesel.

 

Car Services and MOT certificates

Every car, over three years old must have a current annual MOT certificate. An MOT service is around £50 and a routine service (plus additional costs for work carried out) will cost around £100 depending on the type and age of car.
