Using a jigsaw puzzle is another metaphor commenly used for analysing cultural differences.
This is done by imagining that you can see the complete cultural setting or situation as a photo or an image in your mind. Once you have a clear picture in your mind, imagine placing a transparent jigsaw puzzle on top of the image.
Now deconstruct the picture by turning it into a puzzle - a puzzle that consists of a number of pieces all with different form and shape.
While the overall picture will look more or less the same to everybody, the jigsaw puzzle pieces you put on top will be different from person to person. This is the case because we always see, value, and understand things based on our cultural conditioning.
