This does not necessarily mean they do not feel obligated to honour verbal agreements, but simply that written contracts are easier for them to deal with.
People from higher context cultures should not be affronted if their word is not enough to seal a business deal, instead endeavour to develop an agreed upon written contract.
To the British, high context cultures can at times come across as secretive—often perceived to be holding back information. At the same time, higher context cultures can feel that the British flood them with information or act in a patronising manner by providing information that is too basic.
