School transport

If your children are attending their nearest allocated school and that school is beyond statutory walking distance (two miles for pupils under the age of eight, or three miles for pupils of eight and over) your Local Education Authority may provide free transport to and from school.

SchoolThe policy on free transport is under review and should be checked for any particular school.

If your children do not attend their nearest suitable school the LEA is unlikely to provide assistance with your transport costs unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Private Schools

Few private infant schools offer bus services as the children are deemed too young for this.

Some secondary schools offer a private bus service.
